Biography

Colin Andrew Firth was born on 10 September 1960, to mother Shirely Jean [Rolles] and David Norman Lewis Firth in Grayshott, Hampshire, England. His mother was a comparative regligion lecturer and his father was a lecturer in history. Both taught at the University of Winchester. Colin has a sister named Kate and a brother Jonathan, who is an actor in his own right. Both are a year and seven years younger than Colin, respectively.

Colin certainly lived in diverse areas - from his birthplace in Grayshott to Nigeria, where his father taught and St. Louis Missouri, United States to British Colombia, Canada, to finally Umbria, Italy to where he currently resides, Chiswick, London, England.

For schooling Colin attended Montgomery of Alamein Secondary School, a state comprehensive school in Winchester, Hampshire, and then Barton Peveril College in Eastleigh, Hampshire. He was trained for the arts at The Drama Centre in London, England. His acedemics were not quite as noteable as his marks in theatre and the arts and found his calling to acting when he was around fourteen or fifteen years old.

Colin has three sons, William, who is now 17, with actress Meg Tilly, Luca 6, and Mateo 4, with his wife of ten years, Italian film director and producer, Livia Giuggioli.
